According to its CEO, Vinay Dube, Akasa Air expects to add about, 1000 labour force by the end of March 2024, bringing the total staff strength to more than,000 as the airline continues to expand its line and routes. Dube, Akasa Air’s author and CEO, told PTI that the airline will place a “three-number aircraft order” by the end of the year. It has placed an order for 72 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, 19 of which are formerly in service.
The 20th aircraft will be inducted in April, after which it will be allowed to travel internationally. The airline plans to add 9 planes to its fleet in the next fiscal year, bringing the total to 28. It now offers 110 flights each day. “We have over 2,000 people today, and by the conclusion of the next fiscal year, we will most likely have over 3,000 employees… (out of them, there are) roughly 1,100 pilots and flight attendants,” Dube said in the interview earlier this week in the national capital. According to him, hiring is usually done in advance. “We may not have the aircraft today, but we will need to hire for the aircraft that will arrive three months later.”
Thus, you always hire ahead of time for the number of planes you expect to deliver,” he explained. When asked if hiring personnel is difficult in the aftermath of the coronavirus outbreak, Dube said the airline is lucky to be able to attract strong staff. “We just need to keep our emphasis on the employees.” I believe we will continue to recruit top personnel.” The 72 Boeing aircraft on order are anticipated to be delivered by early 2027. “We have to wait and see,” Dube remarked, without commenting on the predicted “three-digit aircraft order.” “We are presently flying 110 flights every day, and by the conclusion of the summer season, we will be doing 150 flights per day.” There will be growth, but not growth.
“We have no market share ambitions, we are not pursuing any position in aviation, and we have an aim to make our customers happy and a target to make our staff happy.” That is what we are doing, and it is sustainable if we have a really robust cost structure. So those are the three pillars on which we are working,” he explained. Dube said there is nothing to report about potential foreign operations for the time being because the airline has yet to settle on probable locations.
As a result, I can’t tell you whether it’ll be east or west, and I can’t even narrow it down since we’re looking at both,” he explained. On August 7, 2022, Akasa Air, which bills itself as the country’s newest and most trustworthy airline, began operations. “I am overjoyed,” Dube said of the airline’s accomplishment, which presently runs 110 daily flights to 17 domestic destinations. According to the most recent official data, Akasa Air carried 3.61 lakh passengers in February, with a domestic market share of 3% and an on-time performance (OTP) of 87%.
