Great news for all candidates who have been pursuing medical in foreign countries like China and Ukraine. Candidates who have been forced to get back to their native lands in India due to the COVID 19 pandemic or war can now appear in the foreign medical graduate exam (FMGE).

Given that the FMGE has a notoriously low pass ratio, the change is unlikely to benefit many students. Only 21.3% on average of the Ukrainian applicants who took the screening test over the previous five years passed it. According to information from the National Board of Examination, there were 4,311 applicants for the test in 2021, and 26.05 percent of them succeeded. It was only 24.5% passed the test out of the 40740 students.

On the Supreme Court’s directions, the NMC’s undergraduate medical board filed this suggestion. Although it wasn’t stated in the plan, officials said first- and second-year medical students who enrolled in their college after November 2021 might reapply for the NEET to be considered for admission to Indian colleges. These students are not eligible to transfer to universities in other European nations, unlike third- and fourth-year students.
