Syria and Turkey have been threatened by the earthquake at the dawn of Monday. After a devastating earthquake ripped through Turkey and Syria, leaving devastation and wreckage on both sides of the border, more than 4,300 people have died and rescuers are frantically trying to extricate survivors from beneath the rubble.  According to Turkey’s chief of disaster services, Yunus Sezer, at least 2,921 people have died and more than 15,800 have been injured in Turkey. Throughout the day, there have been numerous aftershocks. The largest, a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5, struck Turkey roughly nine hours after the first one, according to the USGS. Nearly 95 kilometers (59 miles) north of the original, there was an aftershock. According to the USGS, Monday’s earthquake is thought to be the most powerful to hit Turkey since a similar-sized earthquake that year claimed 30,000 lives. There are typically fewer than five earthquakes of this size worldwide per year, making them extremely unusual. In the past 25 years, Turkey has seen seven earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.0 or higher, but Monday’s was the most intense. Turkey’s south and center have both experienced powerful aftershocks. A 6.7 magnitude aftershock occurred 32 kilometers (20 miles) northwest of the main earthquake’s epicenter roughly 11 minutes after the main earthquake. Then, 19 minutes after the primary quake, a powerful aftershock with a magnitude of 5.6 occurred. When the world was asleep the people of Syria and Turkey fought for their life. There are cases of complete families getting perished due to the impacts of the earthquakes. Thousands of children and the aged are still stuck under the remaining building. Nature has been completely ruthless in this part of the world and we hope that these countries get back to their daily form soon. Let’s pray and take part in every other way possible for standing by the people of the affected areas.
