The Golden Globe Awards are annual awards given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to recognize outstanding achievements in the film and television industries. The awards are presented in several categories, including Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and Best Television Series – Drama, among others. The Golden Globe Awards are considered to be a leading indicator of success at the Academy Awards, which are presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Golden Globe awards ceremony is held in January of each year and it is a star-studded event featuring the most important actors, directors, and filmmakers from Hollywood and around the world. 

On January 11, India won its first-ever Golden Globe for the song “Natu Natu” from SS Rajamouli’s “RRR.”

The film RRR was also a nominee for “best picture—non-English.” The historical drama “Argentina, 1985” by Santiago Mitre won the best picture in a foreign language award, beating the Telugu Blockbuster.

The French-Dutch coming-of-age drama “Close” and the Korean romantic mystery movie “Decision To Leave” were also nominated in this category.

Austin Butler, who played the young Elvis Presley in the movie “Elvis,” won the prize for best actor in a drama film. Butler appeared to be overcome as he accepted the Golden Globe in front of several of the biggest personalities in entertainment. The best actress in a drama went to Cate Blanchett for “Tar.”

The seasoned actress Michelle Yeoh won the best actress prize in the musical/comedy category for her starring performance in the action film “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” which involves dimension-hopping. The events surrounding the 1985 Trial of the Juntas, which tried the perpetrators of Argentina’s last civil-military dictatorship, are the focus of the critically acclaimed film “Argentina 1985.”

For “The Fabelmans,” Steven Spielberg was awarded best director in a motion picture. The award for the best actor performance in a movie, musical, or comedy went to Colin Farrell. “I never expect films to work or to find an audience, and when they do, it’s shocking to me,” Farrell remarked while accepting his Oscar.

In the category of supporting actor, Angela Bassett won the Golden Globe for her portrayal of Queen Ramonda in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” In a supporting part in “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” Ke Huy Quan got the award for best actor. The Banshees of Inisherin, written by Martin McDonagh, received the award for best screenplay.  

The best TV series and drama prize went to the “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon.” The award for best TV series, musical, or comedy went to “Abbott Elementary.” For his part in “Yellowstone,” Kevin Costner won the award for best actor in a TV series performance.  

The award for best-limited series, anthology series, or TV movie went to “The White Lotus.”
